Give Thanks
For what do you have to give thanks? What are the things that make you say thank-you with full meaning?
Today is Thanksgiving Day as celebrated in the U. S. A. While we here in Trinidad and Tobago do not have such a celebration, some of us do enjoy this time of sharing with loved ones by taking the big bird in the sky to visit with relatives and friends. It's a great holiday, as far as I am concerned, because it literally makes you take the time out from your general 'bitchin' & and bitin' to consider what do you have that you love; what do you have that you value? It is in a sense an "I" holiday because you begin to think of yourself. It is in a sense a "THEM" holiday because you think of yourself in the context of others, so it becomes an "US'"holiday because it is all-inclusive. This is the time when you see people helping people. What a wonderful way to celebrate your gratitude!
Today, I thank my God for:
His Guardian Angels - always protecting me. I may stumble but they never let me fall.
My health - I sure feel I should be healthier but the parts are still working (lol).
My mind - which is absolutely magnificent. It has found ingenious ways to keep me sane over these 15 months of joblessness. Now it needs to find ways of me creating employment -GET TO WORK, BRAIN!
Good neighbours who look out for me and I for them.
Relatives - all of them, be they good, bad or indifferent.
Friends - I have very few but I see them as gifts from God.
My savings - without which I would not be surviving.
The roof over my head. What comfort the little ole house gives me and what joy it has seen.
So as you sit at the table, with or without the traditional turkey, take the time to look around and be grateful for those who share the space with you. Even if you are alone at that table, be grateful that you are there and send out affirmations to your loved ones and to those who have no table at which to sit.
Share your thoughts on what giving thanks means to YOU.
