Give Thanks

It is the time of year to give thanks to fallen heroes of war.  I thank-you for my freedom.

It is a time of year to give thanks to fallen heroes; those who came back and were like Humpty Dumpty, never put back together again. A dear darling cousin is one of those.  A former Green Beret in the Vietnam War who fought bravely and whose war never ended.  Thank-you.

It is a time of year to give thanks for all those young men who have fought and are fighting old men's wars and for so doing will never see old age.  Gone but not forgotten. I pray for your wars to end soon.  It is a time to give thanks to fallen heroes all who have fought for democracy and freedom of choice, freedom not to be enslaved.  Thank-you.

Thanks to those whose battlefield was one of life and whose spirit still lives on in our memories.   Some like my father who did the best he knew how:  to take care of me - mind, body and soul.  To all the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends (gone too soon) who have passed on and whom I continue to love.  I send you prayers and kisses and hugs and all the" I miss you something terrible".  I wear my poppy for all, each in their “Flanders Fields".

God bless you all.

Until,

  1. Lord Have Mercy,

"I wear my poppy for all, each in their 'Flanders Fields'." My dear, the last couple of weeks I've been walking around as a friend puts it "with this big cry inside of me" not really able to pinpoint exactly what it is or perhaps the many things triggering this and when I read your blog that just did it. Of course I start blubbering just as one of the staff members on campus knocks on my door and I have to jump into pretend mode. Couldn't wait for him to leave so that I could get back this this e-mail. You should know by now, if I don't write when my mind is on it - it won't get done. Anyways as I've always said your blogs strike a chord with me. This time of the year I too remember family who have passed on and the many service men and women who have and still bravely defend our country. Getting weepy again! I just realize what it is, each of your blogs strike nerves. One can't help but think and remember when you read them. That's why they're soooooooo good. Please keep writing and sending them. You have a faithful blogaholic in Rochester.

Don't stop blogging! Hope to hear from you again soon.
