It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas

O' gosh have your felt the cool early morning breezes?  That cool, light, fresh-smelling breeze coming from the north, that brings a quivering to the nose and stirs up feelings which I cannot solidify into thought, which I cannot grasp but fills me with excitement down to my very toes and brings a big grin to my face because I know that Christmas is almost here!

There are pastelles, sorrel and ginger beer and ponche de creme to make.  I need to add just a touch more cherry brandy to the already soaking fruits, soaking since last year, for that luscious black cake.  This year, a small ham and maybe just a turkey breast, reflecting the times.  O' yes, I must make garlic pork, even if it is only 1 pork chop I use.  Got to have fresh seasonings straight from Paramin and yes, the paranging, caroling and partying!  What fun!  Christmas is almost here!

This year gifts will be spare but the desire to share is still there - something will happen, the kids in my life will definitely get a gift.  For Christmas is about the Child and the gift of life that His life gave to us.  For me, as I grow older, the greatest gift is that of praying - communing with my God; knowing that we celebrate the birth of Christ.  We celebrate love.  Merry Christmas everyone.  Christmas is almost here.

    Merry Christmas Cousin! Perhaps I could be a child in your life too so that I will be on your list for a gift. A little Rum Punch will do the trick but then again, as a child alcohol is off limits. Okay take me off of your child list. It's a joke smile ney man.

Why I Bother?

Someone one keeps on asking me,  with irritation in here voice, words to the effect, " why do you bother?  Why do you feel you have to change the world?"  She asked me this months ago and I could not respond.  I know my conscious intent isn't to change the world.  I do know that whatever knowledge I have I want to impart .  I do know I want to make this country, Trinidad and Tobago better.  As a matter of fact any country in which I live, I want to give to the fullest.   Early one Sunday morning my response formed and I preferred not to answer my friend directly rather,  to ease my mind, I wrote my answer on Facebook.  Now, I re-print here. _________________________________________________ I talk with everybody.
