Resolutions
Like the Queen of England proclaimed in a sad weak voice way back in 1992, 2012 has proven to be my annus horribilis! I pray that 2013 turns out to be my year of joy!
While this is the time to look at that 2012 List of Resolutions, ticking off what has been achieved, looking aghast at what you did not even remember you had put on that list, I am choosing today to forget the pain of this year and not make a 2013 List of Resolutions but instead to make my 2012 List of Gratitude: my'God in Action List' which I shall review in quiet celebration as the clocks tick off the old year.
- Thank-you for this life: not fully understood but being lived.
- Thank-you for a mind and body that was sound most of the year.
- Thank-you for keeping me ‘treading water’ with my nose just out of the water; never drowning.
- Thank-you for my little creole dog Feo, who kept me connected to the world having to take care of his daily needs and who always demanded a display of affectation.
- Thank-you to my mother and step-mother for the phone calls, the unexpected cheques and all the humour. I wish I could be the one helping out.
- Thank-you for neighbours who often cared about me more than I cared about myself.
- Thank-you for friends in particular those ‘surprise’ benefactors: the ones whom I don’t know well, yet out of the blue and with no fanfare supported mentally, emotionally, financially.
- Thank-you for re-connecting me with friends from university days, T & L. How blessed I feel to re-connect with them!
- Thank-you for relatives who remembered my existence.
- Thank-you for R, who called every day "just touching bases".
- Thank-you for all my old ladies, who in sharing their life stories gave me courage to carry on.
- Thank-you for Aunt E, who always welcomed me with a smile, good advice and love each and every time.
- Thank-you to all the Cs!
- Thank-you for C & W through whose love I have been cheered and comforted.
- Thank-you for C who did not ask a question simply and regularly put her money where everyone else put their mouths.
- Thank-you for C for being a wonderful neighbour and I daresay a kind friend.
- Thank-you for Joybells and Charlie who gifted me with a restful period in Bimshire and lots of optimistic talk.
- And the Ms are just as numerous as the Cs so I write…
- Thank-you for M who always reminded me that God had not forgotten me, it was simply a lot of us He had to deal with.
- Thank-you for M who always came to give me a manicure and pedicure asking not for payment and giving lagniappe with the biggest hugs full of love and caring.
- Thank-you M for absolutely loving my writing! Your encouragement is the bomb! Perhaps, I shall take up your suggestion of creating a book. Heh, that sounds like a good new year resolution!
- Thank-you for J who regaled me with the Word to teach me Your truth. O’ the marathon telephone conversations!
- Thank-you for my studies which have served to maintain my self-esteem in a time of a debilitating ego.
- Thank-you for my cohorts for their friendship and respect of me and my talents.
- Thank-you for my 6 months assignment which has saved me from a life of vagrancy.
- Thank-you to the readers of this blog whose willingness to read has encouraged me to continue.
- Thank-you God for letting me show YOU in action, through my survival.
Happy New Year!
Love your outlook and I wish you nothing but the best for 2013.
ReplyDeleteRemember God is good, God is great,God is in everything.
