I'M BAACK!
Gosh, I haven't posted for so long! Sorry. No, I have not curled up in a corner and died, but I'v come close. The black dog has been visiting from time to time but I am managing to fight him off. I was also in Europe and will blog on that soon. I've got a lot to talk about and I am going to try to write at least 2x per month. Today, I'll just roam all over the map.
Do you enjoy movies? Have you been to the Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival? http://www.ttfilmfestival.com/ It's pretty good. They've got lots of options to see the featured movies including through the local cable company and 'curfew cinema' www.ttfilmfestival.com/curfewcinema
I managed to get to Habana Eva and I really enjoyed seeing the scenes of Havana, watching the angst of the main character and...no, I'll say no more on that. Make some time, give your support to the Film Festival by watching a movie. O' yes, I got free postcards too! Ain't that nice? It will be all over at curfew time on October 4, so hurry up!
I really enjoying going to the movies, the anticipation when I am getting dressed, taking a taxi and then standing in line waiting to pay for my ticket just excites me. Then you're in the movie house and sorry, I am not buying popcorn BEFORE the movie begins but just a little after the movie begins, I've just got to get up and get my popcorn. LOL! I love watching for continuity or lack thereof, in the film and I must read all the credits at the end. It's nice to find out who the talented person was who did the costuming and the special effects and what about that extra who played the old fellow or the sick child and is is almost in every movie, what's his name? I feel cheated, not getting my money's worth when they stop before all the credits have rolled. LOL! I even like watching movies at home, be they on television or DVD. Here I've got to be under the covers, no popcorn but maybe some crackers, cheese, nuts or fruit - mango, watermelon (kind of messy but great). Yes, I've got to eat, don't tell me not to. I always have to re-wind because I am always walking away to do something. If I get up in the wee hours, then there is no food only the movie - a time to get lost.
Well, I'm still unemployed and am in the final stages of making the heartfelt decision to leave Trinidad and Tobago. I love my homeland but it does not love me, so since I've been dumped I am crying but will get over. If you have a job out there - call meh nuh? Email, text, snail mail, whatever.
In the meantime, while I taking meh tabanca, I figured I'd wasted enough time so I applied and have been accepted into a Master's programme at the University of the West Indies. Lord, don't let me start on that process - applied since February, got a reply last Thursday, September 22, ! Talk about the emails and phone calls I made previous to heading into the office to get their decision! Have missed 3 weeks of class, am not a happy camper : ( . It's part-time, on the week-ends, so no dates for me. stage whisper "ask meh when was de las' time ah went on ah date" LOL!! I am looking forward to the challenge of learning with young adults. Not too cool on the ranting, raving and mis-behaving of some of my professors. Send me luck and prayers!
Got to go for now. Need to get back onto the job hunt train.
